About Me
My name is Pamela Pressley and.....I have always embodied music as my language. I began my studies on the flute at age 6 and, as a prodigy, performed with the Seattle Symphony as soloist at age 9. Throughout my school years, I essentially communicated my great love of creation through my music.
My background includes performing as Principal Piccolo with the Seattle Symphony, a position I won at age 19. After 11 years, I retired from the symphony to pursue new performing opportunities. I held principal positions with the N.W. Chamber Orchestra and the Pacific N.W. Ballet orchestras for the next 7 years, while continuing to play as an extra and substitute with the Seattle Symphony. My flute took me to Paris to perform chamber music and to New York to perform with Mostly Mozart, summer of 1986.
My Flute Studio
After 30 years of performance, my interests gravitated towards teaching, which gives me a creative outlet that makes my heart sing. I love my students, especially the individual qualities of each person, child and adult, who walk through my door. My teaching is a wonderful addition to healing with sound, as it gives me the opportunity to work with the "whole person". Along with basic flute pedagogy, we address emotional, physical, and mental issues with emphasis on the uniqueness and wonder of each student. I love enhancing all that is innate within each individual.
Sound Healing
My intentions for sound and healing began in earnest 20 years ago when I spent a month observing a Tomatis clinic in Phoenix, AZ. Alfred Tomatis was an ear, eye, and nose specialist who developed the "Electronic Ear" as a healing modality. Children, especially, were permanently changed for the better as their brains registered a new kind of hearing. Once I witnessed the wonders of the Tomatis institute, I was inspired to continue my education and signed up for Jonathan Goldman's 10-day "Sounds Intensive" where I met an amazing community of like-minds.
I learned how to "tune frequencies" with Deena Spear, of Singing Woods, Ithaca, N.Y. Deena is an amazing violin maker and energy healer. She "teaches how to tune audible and inaudible sound for the ultimate purpose of healing sentient beings as well as musical instruments, events, etc. Hearing the change in musical instrument sound serves as a physical sense cue that the healer is accomplishing a positive shift of vibration on nonphysical levels."
Vickie Dodd, of Sacred Soundworks, became my "sound mentor" for a year of workshops. Vickie profoundly impacted my approach to healing with sound through her deeply loving honoring of the nervous system and our bodies, through reverent listening within.
I consider myself most fortunate to have been a student of these wonderful healers.
